The Walker County Sheriff's Office is investigating how 'Kratom gummies' made it into a local middle school.

Five students were sent to the hospital after ingesting kratom gummies at Saddle Ridge Elementary Middle School. Three were taken to the hospital after showing concerning symptoms at school. A fourth student, who had gone home sick earlier in the day, later developed similar symptoms and was also hospitalized. A fifth student was taken to the hospital by their parent as a precaution.

As of Thursday, three still remain in the hospital in stable condition.
