LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A Laredo man faces felony charges after police said he stole a generator from a pickup truck at an H-E-B store in September.
The case began on September 16, when a Laredo Police officer responded to the H-E-B at 1301 Guadalupe St. A 65-year-old man reported that a black-and-red Predator generator valued at about $1,200 was stolen from the bed of his black Ford F-150.
Surveillance footage from the store showed a brown Buick Enclave passing the Ford and then reversing. Someone then exited the Buick, removed the generator from the Ford and placed it inside the Buick.
Police identified 51-year-old Martin Mata as the suspect based on the footage and previous encounters with law enforcement. An investigator spoke to Mata over the phone, who said he had allegedly pawned t
