SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The largest infrastructure project in the history of the city of Sioux Falls officially wrapped up Thursday with a ribbon cutting at the Water Reclamation Facility in northeastern Sioux Falls.
The expansion of the facility allows the city’s sewer capacity to increase to 30 million gallons per day from 21 million gallons per day.
According to the city, construction took 3.5 years and cost $215 million to grow the facility located near North 60th Street and Sycamore Avenue alongside the Big Sioux River in northeastern Sioux Falls. The facility serves Sioux Falls and surrounding communities of Tea, Brandon and Renner for about 250,000 people in the area.
