AVA, Mo. (KY3) — A father and son from Ava face charges for possessing materials used to make pipe bombs in the Walmart parking lot.
In early October, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Ava Police Department found Gary Haden, James Haden and a 17-year-old in possession of short pieces of pipe with caps, gunpowder, 25 feet of fuse and duct tape.
The father and son face charges of unlawful possession of an illegal weapon and unlawful possession of an explosive weapon. The case involving the 17-year-old has moved to juvenile court.
The sheriff’s office said no indication exists that the pipe bomb was intended for use at Walmart.
