Just days before Halloween, Montreal police have uncovered a fright of their own: thousands of weed-laced candies disguised as ordinary sweets.
Officers arrested two people after seizing the cannabis-infused edibles in a series of raids led by the Southwest Criminal Investigations Division and the West Narcotics Section, police said in a statement Thursday.
The seizures included 25.5 kilograms of hashish, 25.5 kilograms of cannabis, 9.8 kilograms of cannabis-infused chocolate and 8,505 bags of THC-laced gumballs, police said. Many wrapped in bright, child-friendly packaging that could easily be mistaken for regular candy.
