LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - Authorities are searching for a suspect after a man was shot at a laundromat in Laurel on Thursday.

According to the Laurel Police Department, the shooting happened in the 800 block of S 15th Ave around 10:45 a.m.

The man was shot and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He’s reportedly in stable condition.

Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Daniel Elkins, Jr. He will be charged with aggravated assault once he is arrested.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Authorities warn citizens to call 911 if they see Elkins.
