Police are investigating an incident involving a high school student who was allegedly found in possession of what appeared to be firearms in Stonington on Thursday.
Officers responded to Stonington High School Thursday after receiving a report of a student in possession of a firearm, according to Deputy Chief Todd Olson of the Stonington Police Department .
The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution during the investigation.
“During that time, two classrooms made the decision to evacuate and relocate to alternate facilities, as provided for in their annual safety training,” Olson said.
Following the initial investigation, a student was taken into custody after two weapons later determined to be facsimile pellet guns were allegedly located in a backpack, according to Olson.
