A man serving a life sentence for killing two people in Brockton in 1991 has been granted parole , records show.
The state Parole Board voted 4-2 to release Zakariya F. Ibrahim-Bush, 52, to a sober house, according to a ruling dated Oct. 27.
Ibrahim-Bush, formerly known as Kevin Bush, had been convicted in 1994 of two first-degree murder counts, the ruling said.
Such convictions normally carry a life sentence without the possibility of parole. But Ibrahim-Bush became eligible to seek release after the state’s highest court last year struck down life sentences with no chance at parole for defendants aged 18 to 20 at the time of their crimes.
