Watertown police are investigating after roughly $9,000 was stolen from a local Catholic church on Monday, officials said.
In a statement posted to Facebook , police said the theft at St. Patrick’s Church on Main Street occurred at some point after roughly 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
It was reported to police Tuesday morning. No arrests have been made.
“An estimated $9,000 in donations was stolen from inside the church,” police said. “If you have any information or video related to this incident, please contact Detective Joe Kelland at 617-600-1310.”
A number of people condemned the theft in reply posts to the police statement.
