BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - There is a rift in the City of Biloxi between city council members and the mayor’s office. Some councilmen say, they are being asked to sign off on agenda items without really knowing what it is they are approving. Now they are calling for more transparency and more accountability as the city prepares to pay a $3.9 million court judgement.

The latest City Council meeting is a prime example of the ongoing issues raised by council members. Among the 18 items on the consent agenda was a resolution to add a $2.2 million state grant to the Popp’s Ferry Road Extension project.

That money comes from the Mississippi Infrastructure Modernization Act of 2018. According to the resolution, the $2,259,397.04 must be used for “repair, maintenance and/or reconstruction of roads,
