A woman has been charged with murder after the death of a baby in Perth's southern suburbs. 

Emergency services found the eight-month-old dead at a home in Baldivis about 10.15am yesterday.

Detectives deemed the death suspicious and began questioning a woman as they tried to work out what happened. 

The 28-year-old has since been charged with murder and is due to face the Rockingham Magistrates Court later today.

Neighbours told 9News they heard a woman screaming out the front of the property before emergency services were called to the address. 

She had been taken to Rockingham Hospital before being transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital in a stable condition.
