MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is urging parents to map out their Halloween evening and find out which houses to skip while trick-or-treating.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation hosts a website that allows users several different ways to search registered sex offenders in their specific area.
Parents can type in the zip code where they live to see a list of sex offenders, their photographs, and their home addresses within their area. Click here to access the interactive map.
The sheriff's office Sex Offender Registry (SOR) unit detectives have gone into Shelby County neighborhoods to warn sex offenders to not have their porch lights on at their homes, hand out candy, or exhibit any behaviors or actions that could entice children.
