Several communities along the Connecticut shoreline are experiencing road closures due to flooding Thursday night.

It comes amid strong winds and rough seas as Hurricane Melissa passes several hundred miles away .

"Turn around, don't drown." That's what the city of Norwalk is suggesting as roadways experience flooding.

In Norwalk, the following roads are flooded:

Spring Hill Avenue by Nolan Court

Williams Street

Meadow Street by Wilson Avenue

Allen Road between the senior center and Newtown Avenue

East Avenue between Fort Point Street and Winfield Street

In Stamford, 37 roads are closed. Here are some of them:

South State Street

Elm Street

Canal Street

Jefferson Street
