BREWER, Maine — On the last Thursday of every month, the Bangor Area Recovery Network provides free haircuts to anyone in the community.

"You feel all alone," Dwayne Rideout said while getting a haircut.

For Rideout, who's in recovery, sitting in the chair and getting a new haircut gives him a glimmer of hope.

"When your down and out, and this is the last door and the last street, they welcome you and help you get back on your feet," Rideout said.

The Bangor area network works with volunteers from Cuts 4 Christ to provide the free cuts.

"It's definitely a good feeling because we just try to help people out no matter what that may be," Madison Valle, the community outreach specialist for the Bangor Area Recovery Network, said.
