VERMONT (ABC22/FOX44) - While most of our region has yet to see any snowflakes this fall, many cities and towns begin banning overnight parking on roadsides and in parking lots as soon as Saturday.
Rules vary by municipality - most, like Barre Town, ban all parking on public property overnight while the ban is in effect, while others, like Montpelier, have more limited systems - Montpelier restricts parking only on one side of each street.
Middlebury formerly had a strict ban starting November 1. However, the town selectboard adopted reforms earlier this month, saying that they were adopting a "common-sense approach" to winter plowing. The town will now only issue parking bans "as needed."
