PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The union representing the 11 members of Portland’s Office of Independent Police Review has notified the city of their intent to go on strike.
The City of Portland says AFSCME 189, the union representing the committee members, submitted their 10-day notice to strike effective Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025.
AFSCME 189 and the city have reportedly met three times in mediation following several months of contract negotiations.
The latest labor agreement expired June 30.
The city says IPR employees organized in anticipation of the new Oversight System, which will establish the Office of Community-based Police Accountability (OCPA) and the Community Board for Police Accountability (CBPA).
