HUNTINGTON — The relocation of the former Chesapeake & Ohio Railway steam engine displayed near 14th Street West in Huntington has begun as the coal tender attached to the locomotive displayed in Huntington since 1962 was transported to its new home Tuesday.
The Chesapeake & Ohio Railway 2-6-6-2 steam locomotive #1308 was donated to Sugarcreek, Ohio-based Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum earlier this month. The museum plans to cosmetically restore and care for the locomotive in its facility alongside 20 other train engines.
The locomotive #1308 has been displayed outdoors near Safety Town in Huntington’s West End since Oct. 9, 1962.
