ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The American Heart Association held the Capital Region Go Red for Women luncheon on Thursday. Hundreds gathered at the Albany Capital Center while dressed in red to raise awareness for women's cardiovascular health.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women claiming more lives than all cancers combined. Officials said attendees also got the chance to learn more about their own heart health.
"You can learn about what you can do to prevent heart disease, what you can do about wellness for good heart health. You can also learn about the stories and what we need to do and the signs on advocating for yourself and for people in your lives," 2025 Capital Region Go Red for Women Chair Karen Carpenter said.
