Communities hit hard by recent storms in Western Alaska are getting help from Credit Union 1, which is collecting donations and offering financial assistance to evacuees.
Branches in Anchorage, Eagle River, Fairbanks, and Wasilla are accepting items such as diapers, wipes, new winter gear, and cleaning supplies.
The credit union is also providing financial support, including banking guidance, budgeting help, and temporary relief for fees or payments.
“We'll be able to help, whether it's a deferment, a non-fee deferment, whether it is a skip or pay, waiving a fee for that, or just figuring out how to make the budget work. We are here to help,” said Mark Burguess with Credit Union 1.
