HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) — Nebraska recorded 87 flu deaths last season, the highest number of flu deaths since 2020, according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Cases are rising as flu season begins, prompting health care professionals to encourage vaccination and other preventive measures.
“The flu season is from October to March, which is the greatest chance to see influenza cases,” said Casey Skalka of Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.
Residents weigh vaccination options
Hastings residents Robert and Yvette Hart said they get flu shots annually.
“We get our flu shots every year, and we believe in science,” Robert Hart said. “It’s always worked for us and we haven’t had any problems.”
