Two periods had elapsed and Brady Martin was not having a good game.

The Nashville Predators prospect and his Soo Greyhounds were only trailing the North Bay Battalion by a single goal, but were it not for goaltender Noah Tegelaar standing on his head in the middle frame with 16 saves, the situation could’ve been far more dire.

For his part, Martin was simply trying to do too much.

His end-to-end rushes ended in easy poke checks, his power play unit struggled to maintain the zone, and his passes were fired into crowds of bodies on a hope and a prayer.

“The second period was a gong show, and it started with myself,” said the 18-year-old captain. “I’m supposed to be a leader on this team, and I’ve gotta step up to the plate and turn the tide there.”
