New Delhi, Oct 31: India and Sri Lanka convened their first Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on Agriculture in New Delhi on October 30.
The co-chairs, Devesh Chaturvedi and D. P. Wickramasinghe, led discussions on collaboration in areas such as farm mechanisation, organic farming, seed sector development, and climate-resilient agriculture. The meeting highlighted opportunities for joint research, capacity building, and initiatives like digital agriculture and crop insurance.
The Sri Lankan delegation also visited the Indian Agricultural Research Institute to understand India’s agricultural research ecosystem. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to bolster food and nutritional security cooperation.
