A Bengaluru-based software engineer, Premanand, lost Rs 1.86 lakh in an alleged Amazon delivery scam after receiving a piece of tile instead of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphone he had ordered online.

Premanand, a resident of Yelachenahalli, had paid in full using his HDFC credit card when he placed the order on October 14.

The package was delivered on October 19 around 4.16 pm. However, when he recorded a video of the unboxing, he was shocked to find only a square white tile inside the box instead of the high-end smartphone.

He immediately lodged a complaint on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and later approached the Kumaraswamy Layout Police Station.
