Adelaide Airport has marked the resumption of international Qantas flights after more than a decade, with the inaugural Adelaide to Auckland service departing this morning.
The launch is expected to benefit both South Australian holidaymakers and the state's economy.
Qantas is also offering connections to New York from Adelaide, with a travel time of less than 22 hours.
Tourism in South Australia is anticipated to receive a boost, with the New Zealand and North American markets worth more than $200 million to the state's economy.
"We are going to have silly festival season coming up, mad march, the V8s only in a matter of weeks," Brenton Cox from Adelaide Airport said.
