With just days remaining until Election Day, early voting numbers show wide differences in engagement across North Jersey.

Some counties are charging ahead, while others lag behind in getting voters to participate ahead of Nov. 4. Despite the disparity, mail-in ballot and in-person early voting returns in North Jersey have been falling into some patterns.

As of Oct. 30, the more rural and suburban counties in the northern part of the state were driving early participation through strong mail-in returns and a preference for in-person voting. Dense urban centers, meanwhile, were trailing behind, with much of their registered base yet to engage.
