Commuters faced significant delays this morning as two major routes were closed due to accidents. National Highways reported that traffic was halted on both the M62 and A57M, leading to long tailbacks and police presence at the scenes of the incidents.

On the M62, two lanes of the westbound carriageway were shut at junction 11 for Birchwood following a collision that resulted in a car overturning. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it remains unclear if there were any injuries. National Highways confirmed, "#M62 westbound within J11 (#Warrington #Birchwood) #Cheshire LANES CLOSED 2 lanes (of 4) closed following an earlier collision resulting in an overturned car."

As a result of the incident, there was approximately 1.5 miles of congestion leading up to the scene. Meanwhile, the A57M, also known as Mancunian Way, was closed in both directions due to a separate road traffic collision. Police have issued warnings of "major delays" and advised drivers to seek alternative routes.

Diversions are currently in place as authorities work to clear the accidents and restore normal traffic flow. Commuters are urged to remain patient and stay updated on the situation as it develops.
