Firefighters battled flames that engulfed a car in Peterborough on Thursday (October 30). Two crews rushed to the A1139 Fletton Parkway, where they found a car well alight.

They spent around half an hour putting out the flames and making the scene safe. A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue commented: "At 4.28pm on Thursday, crews from Stanground and Dogsthorpe were called to a car fire on A1139 Fletton Parkway in Peterborough .

"Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. Crews were at the scene until around 5pm.

"The cause of the fire was accidental."

Cambridgeshire Police has been approached for more information.
