Takiesse Barnes ran for 98 yards and three touchdowns, powering third-seeded Pleasantville to a 23-14 victory over sixth-seeded Delsea in the first round of the NJSIAA/Xfinity South Jersey, Group 3 tournament in Pleasantville.
Barnes put Pleasantville (7-3) in front for good in the second quarter with his first touchdown, a 5-yard run, followed by Semaj Dozier’s two-point conversion to make it 8-7.
Barnes added a 1-yard TD run with a two-point conversion to make it 16-7 in the third quarter. The junior then put the game away when, with the score 16-14, ran for a 5-yard TD run to make it a two possession game for Pleasantville.
Dozier completed 8-of-12 passes for 124 yards in the win while also adding 69 rushing yards.
Pleasantville will play second-seeded Cedar Creek in the semifinals
