PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - The City of Pueblo announced Thursday that Pueblo Transit will offer free rides to recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits amid the upcoming pause.
Free transportation begins Friday and will continue for the remainder of the federal government shutdown.
To receive a free ride, recipients must show a valid EBT card. The city said the free services are not dependent on the final destination or purpose.
“During this time of uncertainty and financial insecurity for individuals, we want to alleviate the cost of transportation with free rides with Pueblo Transit,” Pueblo Mayor Heather Graham said.
“We know we have many community partners working to publicize food banks and support programs, but that may require additional travel outside
