BATON ROUGE, La. — Verge Ausberry, a former LSU football standout and longtime LSU athletics administrator, has been named the university’s interim director of athletics, LSU chair members announced Friday.

He will lead the athletics department in the search for the Tigers’ next head coach after the university parted ways with and .

Ausberry was appointed to the interim position on Thursday, and the university’s chair members formally announced the change on Friday.
