Always ready to push the pace on the ice, Caden Dubreuil also showed the poise and patience of an experienced NOJHLer on Thursday night.
With his hometown Greater Sudbury Cubs trailing, but largely outplaying the Soo Thunderbirds at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex, the 19-year-old forward remained focused and found the perfect time to strike as he lifted a loose puck past T-Birds netminder Ryan Hicks for the eventual game-winner in a 5-2 victory.
“I have played a lot of hockey games in this league and a lot of games where we have been down goals with little time to go,” Dubreuil said later. “When I was young, I learned from the older guys and I watched what they did and how they played and I’m just trying to do exactly what they did.”
