(NEXSTAR) – Customers at McDonald’s restaurants in certain parts of the country might be seeing a change in how their change is calculated.
Due to possible penny shortages in parts of the U.S. — a result of President Trump’s decision to stop producing the coin earlier this year — customers who pay in cash at McDonald’s may not get exactly the change they expect.
"Following the discontinuation of pennies nationwide, some McDonald’s locations may not be able to provide exact change,” reads a statement McDonald’s USA shared with Nexstar. “We have a team actively working on long-term solutions to keep things simple and fair for customers. This is an issue affecting all retailers across the country, and we will continue to work with the federal government to obtain guidance on this matter goi
