A Quebec Court judge will decide early next year whether a young man who was driving while impaired when he caused a car crash on a highway in Montreal, leaving two people badly injured, should serve time behind bars for his mistake.

On Friday, Judge Jean-Jacques Gagné listened to arguments from both sides of the case involving 23-year-old Vincent Giasson. Around 3 a.m. on June 17, 2023, he was twice over the legal blood/alcohol limit and had consumed cocaine shortly before he crashed into a Lincoln sport utility vehicle in front of him in the middle lane of Highway 15 while he was travelling at high speeds.
