Premier Tony Wakeham says he intends to stay “fully engaged” in the Health portfolio even with the recent appointment of Minister Lela Evans.

Evans will serve as Health Minister, but the member for Torngat Mountains is also serving as the minister responsible for Labrador Affairs and Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation.

Some believe that Health and the many challenges and demands that presents, should be a stand-alone portfolio.

Wakeham says he has every confidence in Evans’ ability, but says with his own background as a former CEO of Labrador-Grenfell Health, he’ll be keeping a close eye on health matters as well.
