The Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CHNS) has issued this update about conditions following the collapse of five houses in Buxton on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
CHNS is strongly urging its visitors to avoid the beach and stay out of the water from the Village of Buxton south to the Cape Point area, due to yesterday’s collapse of five unoccupied houses.
Varying amounts of hazardous large and small debris litter the beach to the south of the collapse sites and large pieces of lumber have been observed in the surf and shorebreak. All visitor access from the nort
