STAR, Idaho — Idaho Highway 16 will shut down completely between State Highway 44 and U.S. Highway 20/26 from the evening of Nov. 7 through the morning of Nov. 10 while the Idaho Transportation Department installs drainage infrastructure beneath the roadway.
The closure will take effect at 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10. Drivers will be rerouted to Star and Linder roads during construction.
Transportation officials warn that work will generate considerable noise throughout the closure period.
Crews plan to place a box culvert measuring 495 feet in length under the highway. The drainage structure consists of 86 separate sections, each 8 feet wide and 6 feet tall, with an average weight of 22,500 pounds per piece.
