ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The 2025 federal government shutdown has impacted food assistance programs. The USDA announced benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) would not go out November first.

This week on Empire State Weekly, Tom Nardacci the CEO of the Regional Food Bank, explained the circumstances those in need face when SNAP benefits run out. He advised those who run out of funding on their EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) cards after November first.

"Number one is find your local food pantry. Every neighborhood— urban, rural, suburban, has food pantries" said Nardacci.
