ELLOREE, S.C. (WCSC) - Several small-town officials in Elloree are facing a lawsuit from former Chief of Police David Martin.

Community members claim they have seen corruption in this small southern town for years, and this lawsuit brings them a sense of peace.

The officials involved are listed as Mayor Mike Fanning, Councilman and Mayoral Candidate James Ulmer, and the former Chief of Police Shawn Murphree, who retired while being investigated by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division in 2023.

Martin makes multiple claims in the suit, including 10 years worth of evidence being destroyed, attempted arson of the evidence room days before an audit that was going to be conducted by SLED, and misuse of department funds.
