ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Starting on Nov. 1 the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will be stopped. The SNAP program is for people who for many reasons need help buying food they need for themselves and their families. With the program being stopped, millions of people will not be able to get the food they need.

The Catholic Charities Food Pantry will continue giving out food. It was able to order three times the amount of food they usually order. It gets its food from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, and local grocery stores.
