BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Neighbor helping neighbor - that is the story in Five Points South after a devastating fire forced people to evacuate their homes Friday morning, Oct. 31.
Red Cross volunteers rushed into the area with food in hand.
They say as many as 20 people are now figuring out next steps.
“There’s people I’ve talked to that said ‘I don’t have my passport, I don’t have my license, I don’t even have my car keys because I just ran out in shock,’” said Annette Rowland with the Red Cross of Alabama.
Rowland tells WBRC she knows some of the victims are college students, likely living on their own without mom and dad.
