While eyes were definitely on model Kayla Nicole's Halloween costume this year, many were paying extra attention to the song she used to showcase the look on social media.
The influencer and sports journalist flaunted her look as R&B soul singer Toni Braxton in a Friday, Oct. 31, Instagram post where she recreated part of the iconic music video for the track "He Wasn't Man Enough."
"She’s an icon. She’s a legend," Nicole said of Braxton in the post's caption.
Many commenters applauded the song choice, and some assumed the lyric was a subtle dig toward her ex-boyfriend and NFL star Travis Kelce, who is now engaged to Taylor Swift.
Braxton's track, off her 2000 album "The Heat," includes the lyrics "Do you know I dumped your husband, girlfriend?" as well as "Do you know he begged to stay with me? He wasn't man enough for me."
Kelce and Nicole dated for around five years starting in 2017, according to People.
Has Nicole commented on the Swift Kelce engagement?
Nicole has not commented on her ex-boyfriend's engagement to the Grammy-winner.
During a New York Fashion Week event on Sept. 11, she dismissed a question from the Daily Mail about the engagement news, People reported. She also addressed the amount of online hate she has faced this year in a People interview.
"The opinions of others are only as big as you make them," she told the outlet. "So if I don't allow it to affect me, it simply won't."
Nicole dressed as another R&B icon last year
Nicole also went all out for Halloween last year, dressing up as another R&B icon.
Last October, she unveiled her look as "Goodies" singer Ciara, donning a fur coat and swimsuit to recreate the "Ride" music video.
"Ciara…..uh huuuhhhhh!" she wrote.
