COLUMBUS, Ohio — A unanimous vote now gives Ohio a redistricting map that will set the political boundaries for the next several years.
On Friday, Democrats joined Republicans to approve the map that gives Republicans a 12-3 advantage.
When asked if their vote to approve the maps was a sellout, Democrats on the commission fired back, saying it was better than the alternative.
“This was our only way forward to protect our representation in Congress,” said Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood).
“The options were to eliminate all three members of Congress or maintain their ability to run in 2026. We chose to make sure Democrats can run and win all three of the targeted districts,” Ohio House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati).
