COLUMBUS, Ohio — The trial begins next week for Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb, who is accused of fatally shooting Ta’Kiya Young in August 2023.

Grubb, 31, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault in connection with Young’s death in a Kroger parking lot in Blendon Township. Young, who was six months pregnant, died after being shot by Grubb during an encounter captured on body camera and store surveillance video.

Jury selection has started, with attorneys beginning from a pool of about 130 potential jurors. The case will be tried by four special prosecutors from Montgomery County.
