Even though some counties saw frost advisories last week, it's the first time this season to see these alerts for all of the Charlotte area. This is because it'll be the coldest night since April 13, 2025, when Charlotte dropped to 35 degrees.
The big question is whether we'll have frost in the metro tonight. It's very likely, with the exception of areas close to the city center, like within the 485 loop. Typically, the closer you are to the city, the higher the impact from the urban heat island effect.
Now, this may only mean a difference of 1-3 degrees. But that small difference in temperature means frost...or not. • Clear skies , because clouds act like a blanket and trap heat radiating from Earth's surface • Calm winds , because winds mix the cool, moist air close to the ground w
