GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - While it’s Halloween, some kids can’t go trick-or-treating because they’re in the hospital, so instead, the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital brought Halloween to kids there.
ECU Health team members dressed in Halloween costumes, decorated a festive booth, and handed out candy.
The event gives the kids something to look forward to while in the hospital on Halloween, and helps normalize the hospital environment for the families who are facing the challenges of illness.
Hannah Leonard, child life specialist, says, “I hope they don’t feel like they are missing out on the things that make them be a kid. It is one of the most exciting nights of the year. Although they can’t go home and do it at home, we hope this brings them that same kind of joy they wou
