NORFOLK, Va. — Election Day is only a few days away, and we are digging deeper into the race to be Virginia's Attorney General.

Voters have the option to either re-elect the incumbent attorney general, Jason Miyares, or elect his challenger, Jay Jones. Election Day is November 4.

Incumbent Jason Miyares (R)

With a background in fighting crime, Miyares said the safety of Virginians is his top priority.

“The attorney general is the top prosecutor in the state. That’s a job I take seriously,” Miyares told 13News Now.

Before becoming Virginia’s Attorney General, Miyares started his career as a prosecutor in the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
