MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency and a period of abnormal economic disruption due to the ongoing federal government shutdown on Friday.
According to the governor’s office, Executive Order #278 directs the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to go against increasing prices.
This comes at nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites lose access to food assistance.
On Friday, two federal judges ruled that the Trump Administration must continue to pay for SNAP using emergency reserve funds during the government shutdown.
