EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - In Evansville, an initiative to help people facing food insecurity in November is being rolled out by a local non-profit with support from city officials.

Feed Evansville hopes to make it easier for people to find places where they can get free or reduced price food items.

That’s because food benefits through SNAP or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will not be distributed by way of that program because of the government shutdown.

“If you still have benefits on your card. Those benefits are still going to stay on your card,” Director Lisa Vaughan said. “That is not going to happen on Monday, those benefits will not be reactivated for the month of November.”
