NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- 30 years ago, Not in Our Town Bloomington-Normal fought for the rights of LGBTQ+ people, and from there, they have continued to fight hate in the Twin Cities.

"It kind of blossomed from there for all kinds of different events, activities that we've done over those last 30 years to build community understanding," said Mike Matejka, co-chair of Not in Our Town Bloomington-Normal

Between rallies, marches and events, Not in Our Town Bloomington-Normal has done whatever they can to prevent bullying and hate from thriving in the community.

"I think that Not in Our Town has become a trademark, and the community people know what it stands for. It's something people turn to when they see something inappropriate happening in our community," Matejka said.
