News of overcrowded Redcar and Cleveland cemeteries has sparked a flurry of reader comments for change. Three cemeteries in East Cleveland are facing a capacity crisis , with only two to three years' space left.

Options to extend, invest in or close the cemeteries have been presented to councillors. Loftus cemetery has two years' capacity, Guisborough has two to two-and-a-half years, and Brotton has two to three years. In contrast, Redcar cemetery has nine to 10 years' capacity, Eston 10 to 15 years, Saltburn 50 years, and Skelton and Boosbeck 60 to 70 years each.
